A 10 day adventure discovering the unparalled charm and rustic beauty of Laos. During this adventure travel through the kingdom formerly known as Lang Xang, the Land of a Million Elephants and stay in Indochina’s most elegant hotels. You will have the opportunity to experience the uniqueness of this Buddhist country as you traverse and back from Luang Prabang all the way to southern Laos and back up to Pakse.

Day 1

Welcome Luang Prabang World Heritage Site

Up on arrival, our guide will greet and transfer you to the hotel located in the city center. The tranquility and charm of this town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos, maybe in Indochina. We’ll visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham. The evening will be spent climbing up to the top of Phousi Mountain for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa, as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. Discover the Night Market, where you can find a lovely collection of locally handmade textiles and other local goods.

Day 2

Luang Prabang – Magic Mekong and the Holy Pak Ou Caves

After breakfast, we’ll enjoy a short-guided tour of the city’s oldest temples Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, with its roofs sweeping low to the ground representing the classical architecture of Luang Prabang. We the take cruise up the Mekong River, which also gives us a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. Along the way, we’ll stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they distill local rice wine. We then continue on a short drive to Ban Xang Khong and Ban Xienglek, known for its handmade paper.  Meals: Breakfast.

Day 3

Luang Prabang World Heritage Site – Kuang Si Waterfalls and half-day trekking (optional)

If you wake up early and participate in the daily early morning ritual of saffron-clad monks with their black Alms-giving bowls taking offerings from the local people. After breakfast we take a stroll on the Phousi Market where you see many local products such as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings.The afternoon is leisurely spent as we continue to the Kuang Si Waterfall. Along the way, we’ll stop at Kuang Si Waterfall near Luang Prabang to visit local villages.  At the waterfalls you can splash around in the pools or walk along the forest paths. The evening is free to enjoy as you wish.  Meals: Breakfast. Optional tour: Trekking at Kuang Si Waterfall with a picnic lunch in the countryside. (3 hours)

Day 4

Luang Prabang – The Plain of Jars – Phonsavanh – Xieng Khouang Plateau

Enjoy a beautiful countryside 6 hour drive to Xiengkhouang, which was devastated by American bombing between 1964-1973, while visiting some local hill tribe villages along the way. Upon arrival at Phonsavanh, we’ll continue to the famous Plain of Jars, an impressive archaeological site where hundreds of large stone jars are littered all over the plateau.  Meals: Breakfast.

Day 5

Xiengkhouang – Phonsavanh – Vientiane by Flight

After breakfast, visit the bustling Central Market and enjoy free time to further explore the town before our flight to Vientiane. After checking into the hotel, (if time permits) we’ll continue our sightseeing visiting the impressive Lao – Thai Friendship Bridge and the Buddha Park, a display of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures created by mystical monks on the Mekong River. Meals: Breakfast.

Day 6


Explore the secrets of the capital, Vientiane. Begin by visiting the major sights of the capital including the oldest Wat Sisaket, with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we’ll stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph.
The afternoon is spent on a walking tour to visit the of Vientiane beautiful sights of Wat Ong Tue, Wat Inpeng and Wat Haisok. (Bring a hat, as it may get hot.)
Walk through the major shopping area continuing to the Vientiane Central Market of Talad Sao Laos. Enjoy the Vientiane city tour…learn about the history of Laos and Talad Kouadin where many goods are displayed, including fresh food, household textiles, gold, silver and ancient souvenirs varied displayed.  Take in the evening sunset along the Mekong River.  Meals: Breakfast.

Day 7

Vientiane – Pakse – Don Khong, Southern Laos

After breakfast we’ll take an early flight to Pakse. Upon arrival, we’ll drive along the National Road No. 13, south toward Champassak and visit the ruins of Wat Phu, which is well known as the most important Hindu sanctuary of the Khmer Empire (9th – 13th centuries). Visit some nearby Khmer temples and Buddhist shrines, after a short visit, we continue to Don Khong Island, by traditional local slow boat. Meals: Breakfast

Day 8

Khong Island – Surrounding (Boat)

Today, we enjoy a cruise venturing into the widest reach of the Mekong River from where thousands of islands jut out in dry season, giving this area a lovely name ‘Si Phan Don’ (Four Thousand Islands). Along the way, we’ll stop at the Liphi Waterfalls and the fisherman village of Ban Khone. On return, we take a short drive to the Lao-Cambodia border at Weukham and the sight of Khone Phapheng, which is South East Asia’s biggest water fall. Meals: Breakfast.

Day 9

Khong Island – Tadlo – Pakse

Upon leaving Khong Island, we continue our journey towards Tadlo, through the Boloven Plateau where famous tea and coffee plantations, lush vegetation and red surface of basaltic soil are viewable along the way. En route, there are some opportunities to explore a part of Boloven Plateau and visit some hill tribe villages of the Katu, Alak, and Nge ethnic minority people. Return to Pakse late evening. Meals: Breakfast

Day 10

Pakse Departure

Enjoy breakfast and free time for your own exploration of Pakse Town before your private transfer to Pakse Airport. Safe journey home. Carry home your sweet memories.
