Start your day early with a hearty breakfast, and then travel back to Paro, a journey of about 4 hours covering roughly 130 kilometers. The drive offers scenic views of Bhutan's beautiful landscapes, from terraced fields to forested mountains. Upon reaching Paro, gear up for the highlight of the day: the trek to the Tiger's Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang).
The Tiger's Nest is one of Bhutan's most iconic and sacred sites, perched precariously on a cliffside 900 meters above the Paro Valley. The hike begins with a gradual climb through a forest of pine trees, with prayer flags adding splashes of color along the way. As you ascend, the path becomes steeper, offering glimpses of the monastery through the trees. The trek takes about 2-3 hours one way, depending on your pace and fitness level. For those who prefer, horses are available for hire up to a certain point on the trail.
Upon reaching the monastery, you're rewarded with breathtaking views and a profound sense of peace. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) flew to this spot on the back of a tigress and meditated here, making it a revered pilgrimage site.
