Visit the former King's Palace (National Museum) and Wat Xieng Thong, the most photographed temple in Luang Prabang. Leave Luang Prabang for Xiengkhouang Province, home to the famous Plain of Jars. A long, twisty mountain drive (7–8 hours) is punctuated by stops for sightseeing and lunch, including visits to Khmu and Hmong villages and a hidden cave temple used as an army hospital during the Vietnam War.

Explore the 3 clusters of mysterious stone jars making up the Plain of Jars, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019. Discover the plain from Site 2 to 3 and Site 1, with opportunities to visit a small monastery in Ban Xieng Di and the "War Spoon Village" of Ban Napia, where spoons are crafted from war-era scrap metal.

Combine all of Vang Vieng's signature activities: visit Tham Xang (Elephant Cave) and float through Tham Hoi (Snail Cave) on inflatable tubes, with a swim at Tham Nam (Water Cave). Following a picnic lunch, trek to a Hmong village then return to Vang Vieng by kayaking down the Nam Song River.

Fly south to Pakse. Drive through mountains and winding roads to the Bolaven Plateau, visiting Tad Fane, Tad Champi and Tad Yeung waterfalls, then a tea and coffee plantation with a fresh organic coffee at Jhai Coffee House. Drive back to Pakse for a short orientation tour and free time.
