Upon arrival at Luang Prabang International Airport, you will be picked up by Laos Travel's representative and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a welcome drink and relax at leisure. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Visit the former King's Palace (National Museum) and Wat Xieng Thong, the most photographed temple in Luang Prabang. Board a private boat for the Mekong cruise to the sacred Pak Ou Caves, filled with thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues. Continue to Ban Muang Keo Village before climbing Mount Phousi for a gorgeous view of the town.
Witness the Tak Bat alms-giving ceremony at sunrise. Trek to the Kuang Si Bear Rescue Centre and the multi-tiered turquoise pools of Kuang Si Waterfall, enjoying a picnic lunch in the tranquil park.
Leave Luang Prabang for Xiengkhouang Province, home to the famous Plain of Jars. A long, twisty mountain drive (7–8 hours) is punctuated by stops for sightseeing and lunch, including visits to Khmu and Hmong villages and a hidden cave temple used as an army hospital during the Vietnam War.
Explore the 3 clusters of mysterious stone jars making up the Plain of Jars, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019. Discover the plain from Site 2 to 3 and Site 1, with opportunities to visit a small monastery in Ban Xieng Di and the "War Spoon Village" of Ban Napia, where spoons are crafted from war-era scrap metal.
Head south to Vang Vieng, one of the most picturesque areas in the country. On arrival, relax and enjoy the mountain scenery, with a recommended evening stroll to the riverbank for a dramatic sunset over the karst landscape.
Combine all of Vang Vieng's signature activities: visit Tham Xang (Elephant Cave) and float through Tham Hoi (Snail Cave) on inflatable tubes, with a swim at Tham Nam (Water Cave). Following a picnic lunch, trek to a Hmong village then return to Vang Vieng by kayaking down the Nam Song River.
Enjoy a leisurely morning before departing for Vientiane. En route, stop for lunch at Nam Ngum Reservoir with a boat trip to local fishing communities, then visit Dongmarkhai Market.
Discover Vientiane's essential landmarks with its rich mixture of French colonial architecture and magnificent Buddhist temples — Wat Sisaket, Wat Phra Keo, Wat Si Muang and Patuxai Monument. Visit the golden-spired Pha That Luang and the eccentric Buddha Park, before an evening stroll along the Mekong riverbank.
Fly south to Pakse. Drive through mountains and winding roads to the Bolaven Plateau, visiting Tad Fane, Tad Champi and Tad Yeung waterfalls, then a tea and coffee plantation with a fresh organic coffee at Jhai Coffee House. Drive back to Pakse for a short orientation tour and free time.
Journey along the Mekong to Don Khong, stopping at Wat Phou, a spectacular pre-Angkorian UNESCO World Heritage Site over 1,000 years old. Continue to Khong Island, the biggest island in southern Laos and start of the 4,000 Islands.
Cruise the Siphandon archipelago by traditional long-tail boat, visiting Liphi Waterfalls and the thunderous Khone Pha Pheng Falls, Southeast Asia's largest waterfall. Enjoy a local-style lunch before returning to Pakse by car, arriving in time for sunset.
A transfer will take you to Pakse Airport for your onward travels.
