We will start early, gathering in the hotel lobby at 4:45 AM to travel to Angkor Wat for a stunning sunrise. As the largest religious building in the world, Angkor Wat is a true wonder, originally built as a temple and mausoleum for King Suryavarman II during the Khmer Empire. After experiencing the sunrise, we’ll return to the hotel for breakfast and a short rest. In the afternoon, we visit Ta Prohm, known as the "Tomb Raider Temple" due to its jungle overgrowth and crumbling ruins, making it one of the most picturesque Angkor temples. Next, we head to Angkor Thom, the ancient capital city of the Khmer Empire, entering through the South Gate, which is adorned with stone carvings of elephants and four giant faces. Our final stop for the day is Bayon Temple, famous for its 54 towers each crowned with faces of Avalokiteshvara, believed to resemble the king himself.

After breakfast, we journey to Banteay Srei, often referred to as the "jewel of Angkor" due to its delicate pink stone and intricate carvings. This petite temple is a masterpiece of Angkorian art. We then head to Phnom Kulen National Park, the most sacred mountain in Cambodia, where the Khmer Empire was born. Here, we explore ancient ruins, including carvings of Yoni and Linga, a stone representation of Vishnu lying on his serpent Ananta, and the large reclining Buddha carved into a sandstone boulder. After lunch, we visit Beng Mealea, a "lost temple" swallowed by the jungle, offering a haunting and atmospheric experience as nature has claimed the ruins.

On this day, we travel to Kampong Phluk, a traditional floating village located on the Great Tonle Sap Lake. After a 50-minute drive, we board a wooden boat to explore the village, where nearly 1,000 families of Khmer origin fish and farm. The village’s stilt houses are built high above the water during the dry season, but during the rainy season, they are nearly submerged. We will also have the chance to explore the flooded mangrove forest and observe daily life in this unique, water-bound community, a fascinating highlight of Cambodia’s natural beauty.
